Offshore Adventures for Kids (OAKs) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization dedicated to providing youth from underserved communities with the exhilarating experience of offshore adventures. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of the coastal ecosystem while learning the importance of its preservation for future generations.
OAKs facilitate various trips, including whale watching, fishing, and surfing, specifically targeting organizations with adolescents who might not have had the chance to experience California's stunning coastal waters. Our goal is to teach these kids the significance of conserving this fragile ecosystem while they enjoy its natural beauty. We aim to reach youth from underserved communities, physically challenged individuals, and children from diverse backgrounds.
Our Programs:
Whale Watching: During the Grey Whale migration season, we organize trips where youth can witness different species of whales, dolphins, sea lions, and birds.
Fishing: In the warmer months, we teach kids the basics of offshore fishing, including catch and release, species identification, and conservation.
Surfing: During the summer, we focus on surfing, exploring tide pools, water safety, and enjoying the beaches of Southern California.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and grants, we offer these excursions at no cost to the youth from underserved communities and their families. While our primary focus is on serving economically disadvantaged youth, we also serve other groups based on available funding and co-sponsorship. Each trip includes snacks, beverages, and necessary equipment, all under the supervision of professional chartered crews on Coast Guard certified vessels. Your organization provides transportation to the docks, volunteers, and chaperones.
Join us in our mission to inspire and educate the next generation about the importance of preserving our coastal ecosystems while providing unforgettable offshore adventures.
